What do I need to know if my school has spotty Wi-Fi in the places where I use Pocket PE?

Pocket PE uses Wi-Fi to:

  • Allow users to log in
  • Sync user profile and calendar
  • Update curriculum content
  • Track classroom activity data

When Wi-Fi is disabled or your device is otherwise not connected to the internet, Pocket PE will work in offline mode, which means it will remember your login credentials (assuming you have signed in previously) and cache your classroom activity data for future upload.

If Wi-Fi is enabled on your device but you are in an area of poor signal strength, this can sometimes introduce lag or perceived glitchiness to the application as synchronization updates take longer than you or the app expects. If you find that the app is not performing as expected under these conditions, try disabling Wi-Fi on your device during PE instruction and re-enabling it after you return to the classroom.

Wi-Fi is typically disabled by swiping down from the top right (on iOS) or top middle (on Android) of the screen and tapping on the Wi-Fi icon.
