What is Pocket PE?
Pocket PE is a mobile app designed for busy 3rd to 5th grade teachers who need fast, fun, and effective physical education or movement break solutions. With just a few taps, Pocket PE builds engaging, standards-aligned lessons in seconds—then helps teachers lead them with real-time music, audio cues, and smooth transitions that keep the class moving and having fun.
From fast-paced games to small group stations, Pocket PE turns physical activity into a highlight of your student’s day. Activities are built to get hearts pumping, with inclusive designs that make every student feel confident, energized, and excited to join in. Pocket PE is backed by over a decade of research and years of classroom testing. It’s designed to make teaching PE easier, more effective, and more fun!
Pocket PE currently supports Apple devices including iPhone (iOS 12.4+), iPad (iPadOS 12.4+), or MacBook (M1 or newer), as well as Android devices (version 7.0 or later).
How do we get started using Pocket PE?
The Pocket PE app can be found at the following links:
iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pocket-pe/id1661194683
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saavsus.pocketpe
Or search for “Pocket PE” on the app store.
Before teachers can begin using the program, a school admin must create a Pocket PE account for each user. Teachers will then receive an email from the system inviting them to choose a password to complete registration. To make sure these invitation emails don’t go to spam, please whitelist the admin.pocketpe.app domain in your mail server.
What do IT departments need to know about Pocket PE?
Pocket PE should require very minimal support from IT staff. The app itself can be installed on a teacher- or school-owned device which should be connected to school WiFi to ensure timely reports of classroom PE performance data. In addition to syncing PE data to the cloud, the app requires a one-time download of media assets (video and audio) that totals 1.7GB. Please ensure that this download does not take place over mobile data connections so as not to incur data overage charges.
In order to properly facilitate PE lessons, the device with Pocket PE installed should be paired with a bluetooth speaker that is powerful enough to be heard over an active PE class. The speaker should be a minimum of 60W for indoor lessons or 120W for outdoor lessons.
What should I do if a teacher encounters difficulties using the app?
Teachers have access to helpful support resouces through the “Help and Resources” menu item in the profile menu. This link will open a support webpage within the app with instructive tutorials and FAQs that should answer the majority of issues that teachers will encounter. This will also provide access to an inquiry form that can be used to seek additional help if required. Please note that this is a live webpage, and the device must be connected to the internet in order to access it.
The support portal can also be accessed outside of the app by visiting support.pocketpe.app. Please note that you may need to whitelist this domain on your school’s network if teachers are unable to access it.
